Father God, i thank you for Alyssa and her desire to read Your word and follow You, and Lord i ask that You would help her keep up with reading every day, help her to remember to make time for it and show her new and wonderful things in Your word that would entice her to read more and more. Bless her and keep her as she listens to Your word dear Jesus.
Kust when Ii came to this site and read Alyssa's request for us to pray for her it reminded me of a verse in 1 timothy chapter two where it says "I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them". Let's all help out Alyssa and everyone else and pray for them! Kris
Reading these four comments has brought tears to my eyes! Alyssa requests prayer and Annie and Peter pray for her onlnie. Kirs responds with a verse and such encouraging words. We are all truly blessed to be part of this group. I want to quote I Tim. 4:12 - "Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity." I was at Red Rock last week with the Junior Highs and Kaitie, Alyssa, Tamara, & Kris (part of our small group) were there. I had the girls in my cabin, and it warmed my heart to see the three of them live out this verse in 1 Tim. Positive girls, reading their Bibles, being examples. Kris, I can see you're trying to be positive and a witness as well in your interactions. It warmed my heart. Keep it up you four. Junior High and High School can be tough years, but you can be positive examples and lights to the kids around you.
Don will laugh at me because I always forget to sign my name...the above comment was from Wannetta. I do want to do one more posting (I didn't do any last week so I have to make up). This might be a little tongue and cheek, with some thought in it though too. Timothy talks about food and exercise in the same chapter, chapter 4. Verse 3 says "God created those foods to be eaten with thanksgiving...Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it." Further down Timothy writes, "Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important." So we should enjoy our food and be moderate in our exercise because it only has some value??/!??!? I endorse healthy living, practicing good principles in food and exercise. However I sometimes wonder about the extreme diets and exercise plans out there. Do we spend more time on the physical than the spiritual? Wannetta (there I didn't forget to sign my name)
Alyssa, a simple request like you made at the beginning of the week is a great reminder to all of us how important it is to support each other in prayer. I have been thinking about you, Tamera, Tiff, Katie and Kris as I have prayed this week. Like Wannetta, my heart is warmed by the awesome young people we have in our midst. Thanks for making yourself vulnerable to the rest of us and asking for prayer. Kris, your quote from 1 Tim 2 is timely and applicable to all of us. Thanks for that. Thanks also to Annie for being so "on the ball" with a quick response of heartfelt prayer after Alyssa posted. Don
Just wondering if you guys could pray for me... I'm falling behind.
