When reading Mark Chapter 15 today, even though i know the story,i can't help thinking in my mind, everytime peter denies christ i just think "come on Peter". Peter came across as a man who was very strong in his faith but when the time came, peter felt the peer presure and caved. It is a good example and reminder for me to not just stay "normal" and not deny christ but to Proclaim christ instead and be Pumped to do so.
I appreciated Kris's comment as I read it today. I have often thought the same thing about Peter - that he was strong in his faith, but dropped the ball when push came to shove. A further thought is that even for people like Peter who denied Christ in a tough moment, there is forgiveness as we note later in the gospels.
One of the interesting things I noted today as I was reading about Jesus' death was the detail with which Mark describes the historical account. He notes that Simon of Cyrene is passing by and is forced to carry the cross for Jesus. He notes that Jesus' clothes are divided up by throwing dice. Mark even notes that the crucifixion occurred at 9:00 in the morning. The significance for me of showing such detail is that it adds strength and credibility to scripture. It reinforces for me that the story of Jesus as is described in the gospels is a true account.
A couple of days ago, while reading Mark 13, I was beginning to feel a bit scared. Jesus tells all of these things that are going to happen. Such as wars, earthquakes and famines (Middle East, Italy and Africa). I kept wondering... Are we at the nearing the End of the Age?
Jesus also says that we will be flogged and arested for our faith. As we live in a free country, this may not happen, but I know for sure it happens elsewhere in the world.
Then, after I read that, I read about the Son of Man coming from the clouds and he will be coming for us. I'm not frightened anymore, I get to spend eternity with Him!
So, if any of you would like to respond to this lenghly email, that would be very much appreciated!
Back to chapter 13 in a tiny response to Alyssa's comment. In verse 9, Jesus tells us that we will be beaten infront of kings and rulers because of our faith in Jesus. It may not sound all that great but it makes me happy everytime to think that if i was one of those people who stood up for what i belived in and got persucuted for it. Then in verse 11, Jesus offers us comfort and tells us that the holy spirit will be with us when we are faced with these situations. Hearin gthings like in verse 11 is very comforting. To know that when you are going through tough time that God will help you during your time. Knowing that God will always be with me takes all the stress away when i think that God will always be there.
I realized I haven't been updating on here as of late and I would just like you to know that I am praying for all in this group for strength and wisdom in daily living. Like Kris said, Jesus died for us and He is the Lord of Lords. Hallelujah!

Jesus died for mine and everyones elses sins! He got tortured and mocked even though he is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Thank you God!
