It amazes me the God didn't just get the Israelites out of Egypt but in the process he wiped out the superpower of the time. With all the first born dead and all the army drowed the Egyptians would be a helpless nation. Thus ensuring the freedom of the Israelites from fear of pursuit or revenge. It reminds me that we don't always see or understand the broader plan of God. But passages like this help me to trust in it.

Can you imagine seeing God like the Isrealites did? A powerful thunder and lightening storm, a dense cloud on the mountain, a long loud blast from a ram's horn, smoke billowing from the mountain, a violent earthquake, the trumpet blast growing louder and louder. Talk about POWER! Wow, it sends shivers up and down my spine just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I wondered about was Exodus 20:21 ... Moses entered into the deep darkness where God was. Isn't God light? Why darkness and not light? Is it a difference between OT and NT?

I am amazed again at all the detail, detail, detail that I have read today in the passages...One of the things I think of, and am reminded of, after reading this...is that God cares for every detail in our lives! We have so much when we choose to do life with Him.

In response to my previous posting, I was reading in a Max Lucado book and he quoted 1 John 1:5. "God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all." Would the darkness that Moses walked into have been what the bystanders saw? I'm thankful that God is light, because I'm scared of the dark.
