Happy New Year!!
So begins another year. For those who are joining us for the first time here's how it works. I will post a week's worth of readings at a time. We have readings for Mon. to Sat. and then we take Sundays off to catch up if you need to or to focus on the passage for the service. Your comments about what you are reading are welcome but not mandatory. It's been great for me to read what your thoughts, ideas, prayer requests and questions are about what you are reading. Click on the "post a comment" button, then type in your comment. Where it says click on a profile choose "anonymous". Feel free to give your name at the end of the comment so people know who to respond too. It's great to have you all with me as we continue to learn and grow through God's Word. Thanks for being a part of this group. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Good Morning everyone,
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time reading through the old Testament, and I certainly need the accountability. I tend to start something full of fire, and cool off as time goes on. I am excited to get into the word, and see where it leads me.

Hey girl, yeah, I'm in as well!
ReplyDeleteI also, have not read through the entire OT.
Accountability is an awesome thing...I am certainly realizing that God helps me to go places, in a better way, with the help of accountability!!! Looking forward to hearing from God through this reading commitment together with you all!
Blessings and cheers to a good up and coming year!
Merle
Hi there, I was just told about this great oppertunity to be accountable to reading the OT. I have had it on my heart for a few years now and feel this is God's way of helping me get on that path:) thanks! I will be praying for others as we read God's word and really look forward to this growing time!

CAN YOU IMAGINE.....
ReplyDelete1. When the angels came to visit Lot and they ended up staying for night, the men of Sodom surrounded the house and wanted to have sex with these men. Lot actually didn't want them to do such a wicked thing, so he offered they could do anything with his 2 virgin daughters. It makes me shudder.
2. On a lighter note, how about living to be 850 or 900 years old? I'm in the mid-forties and would have only lived 1/20 of my life instead of 1/2.

P.S. Welcome aboard to the new participants. I participated last year with reading the NT, and I was so blessed by everyone's postings and thoughts. Looking forward to this year and learning together.
I just had to say when reading chapter 19 how uncomfortable I felt when Lot's 2 daughters got him drunk and lay with him so they could have children. I realize the reason for this, but it was hard to read. I also agree with Wannetta about Lot giving up his virgin daughters so the wicked men would leave the angels alone. Crazy reading.

I agree very much with you 2 on the reading so far. I e-mailed Merle on how "shocked" I was at the sinful acts they keep on doing, i guess I thought they were not as "bad" as we are today...very wrong...they were worse.
ReplyDelete~also the boldness they had in the disagreeing with God directly. If God spoke clearly to me, I would think I would just obey! I am not asking to be tested...lol.
~Question about Adam.... was he just one man or did the word "Adam" represent more men..like man. Pastor Pete can you also respond to me on that, please. ~ thanks.
thanks for the welcome, I am looking forward to a "bible study" I can actually do with my 3 little ones...we do not get much out of Church right now. So thanks!

I am in awe at Abraham...his devotion and commitment to God...even when no one was looking. To sacrifice his son...wow!
ReplyDeleteAnd then to respond, in faith, to his son's question...that God will provide an offering...simply trusting that God would provide what is needed for them...strength, ability...wow

Hey everyone,
ReplyDeleteI just want to say that I am so excited to be reading the Old Testiment this year. Sometimes I think reading the bible is a bit of a drag but I had to conciously stop myself from reading ahead because I was already two days ahead. I don't know if this makes sense but it is supposed to encourage everyone. lol. Happy reading!
