  1. Is anyone out their???
How is the reading coming along for you all?
I am so excited that we have finished 5 books of the Bible--Hallelujah :)

Reminded again in todays reading... the importance of mentoring and teaching the young...like Moses teaching, equipping and encouraging Joshua...

Blessings to you all as you continue on!

  2. Hi Everyone,
I have a question for someone to answer. I can't remeber which chapeter it was but God was reminding the Isrealites of how horrible Egypt was and so on. (I can't remember the exact context) This was just as they were going to cross over to Jordan to the promise land. But earlier on it also talks about how no one who came out of Egypt was going to get to see the promise land becuase of their doubt. So were some of these people still alive or was God talking about thier ancestors or what?
I know this all sounds confusing but I hope it all makes a little bit of sense.

  3. I don't know Katie. My thoughts would be that God was reminding the children of the original pepole who left Egypt. It is as you said that no one who originally left Egypt was allowed to enter the promised land.

How about Deut.31:6, or Deut.31:8!!!!! "Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord is the one who goes before you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor forsake you." Why worry about tomorrow because God is already there. He goes before us! He hems us in....he's been with us in the past, and he's already in our future. Praise Him! And help me to remember this when my tendency is to worry.

  4. Hi Katie, Good question. In Numbers 14:29 the Lord said to Moses, "In the desert your bodies will fall - every one of you 20 years or older who were counted in the census"

So those who were under the age of 20 were alive during the Exodus would have been witness to the things that happened in Egypt but still be able to enter the land of Canaan.

It's Deut. 29 where Moses reminds them of all they have seen in Egypt.

I have to admit I've fallen a bit behind. I'm finished Deut. and am hoping to catch up by the end of this week.
    Blessings
    Peter

  5. It's been hard reading this week. It's so hard to imagine the Isrealites attcking and killing all those people so they could have the land. Women and children as well. My NLT translation uses words like "slaughter" and "they were completely and mercilessly destroyed". Couldn't God have given them land a different way, without all that bloodshed?

  6. Hi It is Lynnette here, I have also fallen behind in my reading but I am still reading. I am in Deut 12 today. I keep re-reading chapter 11 it is great especailly after all the slaughters. That was hard for me to get through, also the sacrafice on alters....so much blood. ( might make good horor movies, if you like them, not me.)
Katie, I also am questioning the who enters the promised land. So i will keep you posted:)
These comments have been good to read, since I also have a lot of questions and feel a bit behind, but still want to be a part of this group and keep learning!
Oh how I need to learn and grow:) I would encourage all to re-read chapter 11 of Deut. it is good :)

I will leave us on this great verse:

"No, do not be afraid of those nations, for the Lord your God is among you, and he is a great and awesome God." Deut 7:21

    Bless you

    lynnette~
